Sarah Jane Eveleigh’s mellifluous, rhythmically assured vocals are always a treat. Here she is supported by the ever-popular Melbury Music Quartet, this time featuring Duncan Lamont Jr. on sax, clarinet and flute, Richard Sadler on bass, Martin Bazley on piano and Andrew Eveleigh on drums. Melbury Music perform regularly at the OSO Arts Theatre and other top local London venues and at various prestigious social events. Sarah Jane imbues the well-loved and lesser known vocal numbers she sings with real energy and clarity, drawing on her extensive repertoire centred on jazz, Latin and pop.
Poco Loco is a Barnes-based quintet that takes its cue from the heyday of hard-bop and soul jazz of the late 50s/early 60s. The line-up is the classic trumpet/tenor sax frontline plus rhythm first popularised by Horace Silver and Art Blakey.
The emphasis is on crowd-pleasing, foot-tapping grooves across an eclectic mix of re-arranged standards and lesser-known gems from the period. Adrian Astor trumpet, Gerard Gregg-Smith tenor sax, Huw Jones keys, Paul Southern bass, Hakan Yazici drums.
