Celebrated jazz vocalist Helen Theophanous and her A-List quintet featuring some of London’s top jazz musicians present a selection of songs embraced by the great Ella Fitzgerald along with tunes from Duke Ellington, Jobim, Gershwin, Cole Porter and Bacharach. Helen has performed at all of the top London jazz venues, working for over a decade with the late great Geoff Castle (Nucleus, Paz) and the current band members appear regularly at Upstairs at Ronnie Scott's as guests of international saxophonist Renato D'Aiello with whom Helen made her album “Amici”. “Deliciously warm vocals and terrific scatting…..” - Cabaret Scenes. “Classy, stunning....” Clare Martin OBE.
Joining Helen is IMA nominated pianist John Crawford who has worked with numerous Latin percussion legends and has performed in the Montreal, North Sea and Getxo Jazz Festivals, Paul Morgan bass, NYJO, BBC Radio Orchestra and the Len Philips Swing Orchestra, drummer Steve Taylor (Frater and Taylor, Ian Shaw, Mica Paris) who sells out shows with his Big band Explosion and top UK saxophonist Tim Whitehead (Nucleus, Way Out West ). Tim was the first Artist in Residence at Tate Britain with his composition “Colour Beginnings” inspired by JMW Turner's watercolour sketches. Tickets £14 in advance & 16 on the door
