The Julian Costello Quartet play the Lunchtime Session:
This is a great chance to catch internationally celebrated saxophonist Julian Costello with his new, very special line-up over at the Bull’s Head. Featuring Julian on saxes, Natalie Rozario on cello and vocals, Stefanos Tsourelis on oud and guitar and Sophie Alloway on drums and percussion, the band will be performing songs from diverse artists such as Sarah Vaughan, Doris Day and Jimi Hendrix together with original compositions from Julian’s acclaimed albums on 33Jazz Records.
“Costello has his own distinctive voice on tenor and soprano, with inventive, wholesome compositions with melody in abundance…..” Sammy Stein – Jazz In Europe.
Joining Julian on tenor and soprano sax are classically trained cellist Natalie Rozario whose repertoire of World Music and jazz standards is beautifully augmented by her marvellous vocals to Stefanos Tsourelis, a virtuoso musician in his own right on both guitar and the evocative sounding oud and the much in demand drummer Sophie Alloway’s whose playing combines real sensitivity whilst also laying down a fantastic groove.
