The John Donegan Sextet

The very best in straight-ahead Modern Bebop jazz from John Donegan’s superb six-piece. Originally from Cork, the jazz pianist and composer is now largely based in London. John’s music has been featured on the BBC, Jazz FM, RTE and on independent radio stations both in the UK and in Ireland and seen him performing with a variety of UK and International artists including Art Blakey, Art Farmer and Barney Kessel among others. His major musical influences include Bill Evans, Wynton Kelly, Bud Powell, Chick Corea and Keith Jarrett.
The sextet is completed by Steve Fishwick, a top UK jazz trumpeter who is rapidly gaining a global reputation for his flawless technique and flowing, harmonically rich improvisations whilst tenor saxophonist Alex Western-King is becoming one of the most talked-about players on the London scene having studied and played with the likes of Jean Toussaint, Ian Bellamy, and Alex Garnett and is a regular performer at Ronnie Scott’s. Alto saxophonist Jamie O’Donnell began playing the saxophone after listening to the giants of the alto such as Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderley, Art Pepper and Sonny Stitt and the noted double bassist Mike Coady has worked with Scott Hamilton, Mark Murphy, Warren Vache and Pete King among others. Drummer Matt Fishwick has performed extensively both in London and New York at renowned venues such as Small’s, Dizzy’s Club, Smoke and Ronnie Scott’s working with the likes of Bob Cranshaw, Cedar Walton, Larry Coryell and Scott Hamilton.
