McCabe Events Group presents:
All Ears Mini-Festival
Will Purdue + Nayana + Gemma Clarke + Bessie Deakin
Entry Requirements: Under 18s to be accompanied by an appropriate adult
All Ears is a brand new mini-festival raising awareness and funds for esoteric charities across the globe.
This month we are supporting UNICEF who are currently protecting children in Ukraine.
As the conflict continues to escalate in Ukraine, millions of children and their families are in danger.
UNICEF is helping to provide families with access to clean water and healthy food.
They are delivering life-saving supplies to support families who have been forced to flee.
They have delivered vital medical supplies to 49 hospitals across Ukraine improving access to healthcare for 400,000 mothers, newborns and children.
They are increasing the number of mobile child protection teams working inside conflict zones to ensure that children have access to support.
To support and protect the millions of families who have fled Ukraine they are working with local governments across neighbouring countries and the UNHCR to create “Blue dot safe spaces” for children and women. These spaces provide key information to families seeking refuge, psychosocial support, water and sanitation supplies, and help in identifying and protecting unaccompanied and separated children.
£5 could help provide 1,785 water purification tablets.
£15 could help provide exercise books for a class of 50 children to help them continue their education in times of crisis.
£27 could provide an emergency shelter for one family, helping to protect children and keep them warm and safe.
We have a fantastic lineup this month, featuring local acts from across London...

Line Up
Will Purdue
Will Purdue is a singer - songwriter influenced by all the great sad young men, such as Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young. His music is an introspective throwback to the 1960’s, with the lyrics and melodies taking centre stage. His songs are mostly autobiographical, with his voice varying between a rasping baritone, to a more urgent higher range, where you feel the dynamic shift. His work is a catalogue of broken relationships, affairs and thoughtful retrospect, and he comfortably tackles difficult themes, to try and create something that people can relate to and really feel.
The recording of his first album is soon to be underway, with a clear plan to have a very live, emotional album, with intentional bleed between microphones, and a complete ban on vocal tuning. He has recently been playing his live shows with his partner in crime, Liza Bec, who adds a truly unique combination of sultry harmonies, as well as playing both recorder and sax, giving their sound something very classic and rarely heard.
Will has big plans, with his new album, and a tour of Denmark and Sweden on the horizon. He is also writing a novel and adding guitar to many other musicians projects.
The first EP ‘A Past Life’ was played both nationally and internationally, and was featured on BBC Radio Berkshire. Recent performances have included Celtic Connections at Glasgow Concert Hall, London Blues Festival (Reading Leg) and Kaya Festival Wales, as well as indoor venues such as The Joiners, Southampton and Thekla Bristol.

Nayana
West London based Nayana, 19, comes from a Trinidadian family who have a deep respect for music - from soca all the way to classical. As well as consistently gigging across London, Nayana is also currently studying music performance at BIMM. Here she is championing her own soulful strain of R&B, embarking on her career with a cut called ‘Drowning’ which has been described as “deliciously forward-thinking”. Expect powerful vocals and expressive songwriting.

Gemma Clarke
Gemma, age 21, is a singer-songwriter based in London with a sound that is hard to define to a single category. Her music and sound incorporate styles and techniques from multiple genres, particularly jazz, R&B and soul. She comes from a classical and musical theatre background then expanded into rock and pop music. Whilst gigging all around London, writing and releasing music she is also studying a Bachelor of Arts at BIMM Institute. Her music is expressive and leaves nowhere to hide behind her lyrics, her emotional performances and powerful vocals are not something to be missed.

Bessie Deakin
Bessie Deakin is ‘Lady Red’ the title track from her EP which tells the timeless story of love, passion and obsession which has recently evolved into a more Jazz style when performed live, making it fitting that the next venue to fall in her path is the Bulls Head Jazz bar. She has performed at The Bedford in Balham and the Half Moon in Putney where she’ll be headlining her own show in August.
She’ll be performing other original material from her EP as well as her next single ‘Preacher in the Hallway’ which will be coming out later this summer. Bessie has a clear and unique voice that will be accompanied by Steve Coghlan on acoustic guitar and harmonica.
