*The Sarah Moule & Simon Wallace Trio “From Landesman To Ellington” (part of the EFG London Jazz Festival): * The highly acclaimed jazz vocalist Sarah Moule is widely acknowledged as the foremost interpreter of the songs of American jazz lyricist Fran Landesman and award-winning British pianist Simon Wallace. Over 18 years working with Fran and Simon, Sarah developed a uniquely close relationship to their material, introducing 45 of their songs over five critically acclaimed albums, the latest of which, "Stormy Emotions" will be featured on the night. "Long established as one of the best jazz singers in the UK, Sarah Moule is a master at bringing out the heart of a song...." Helen Mayhew - Jazzfm. New York born Landesman's work has been recorded by Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald and Miles Davies her lyrics being a direct link to the New York jazz scene of the 1950's beginning in the 1950's with "Spring Can Really Hang You Up" and "The Ballad Of The Sad Young Man". In Sarah's live shows the contemporary songs of Fran Landesman are juxtaposed with elegant arrangements of classic songs and rare gems by the great Duke Ellington whose music has also been a big influence on Sarah and Simon. For this new show, they will be joined by the much-admired bassist Neville Malcolm, (Gregory Porter, Eric Bibb) and Paul Robinson who for many years was Nina Simone's drummer.
