John Donegan Quartet

Originally from Cork, UK based modern jazz pianist and composer John Donegan’s music has been featured on the BBC, Jazz fm, RTE and various other independent radio stations in the UK and Ireland and he has worked with a variety of UK, Irish and International artists including Art Blakey, Art Farmer, Barney Kessel and Greg Abate. Major influences include Bill Evans, Wynton Kelly, Bud Powell and Keith Jarrett and John has performed in France, Spain, Portugal and at the famous Birdland in New York. John recently composed a suite of 21 contemporary pieces which have been released as 2 CD’s, “Siamsa Vol 1 & 2”. “An intriguing combination of classic bebop laced with Irish folk melody, this album from pianist John and his saxophonist friend Tomasso Starace is full of sublime lyrical moments….” Musicians Union Magazine. The quartet for the night will be John Donegan on piano, Tomasso Starace on alto & soprano, Paul Jefferies on double bass and Greg McCarthy on drums, playing a mix of standards as well as material from the Siamsa Suite and his new album, “A Kite For Kate”. 8.00pm Tickets £11 in advance & £13 on the door
