Mulligans Quintet play the music of Charles Mingus

Featuring Dan Mulligan, trombone, Reiss Ellis-Beckles, alto, Chris Eldred, piano, Tom Dring, bass & Olly Sarkar, drums, the young musicians in the quintet are outstanding graduates of Trinity Laban and the Royal Academy. Dan Mulligan is one of the most accomplished young jazz trombone players on the scene. His influences are Jack Teagarden, Jimmy Knepper, Steve Turre and Robin Eubanks. He has played with the Duncan Macfarlane, James Lawrence and Andrea Vicari Trinity Big Bands and co-founded the Mulligans Quintet. Reiss Ellis-Beckles sites his influences as Paul Desmond, Kenny Garrett and Charlie Parker and he has played with Martin Speake and Mark Lockheart and made festival appearances in London, Manchester and Cheltenham as well as taking his quartet to the Silda Festival in Norway. Chris Eldred is one of the most in demand jazz pianists on the London scene. The group is anchored by the expressive bass playing of Tom Dring, and dynamic jazz drummer, Olly Sarker. This new project covers compositions by the great Charles Mingus, one of the most accomplished double bassists of all time, a player of staggering technique, rhythmic drive and individuality, regarded as second only to Ellington as a jazz composer. 8.00pm Tickets 10 in advance & £12 on the door
