EFG London Jazz Festival: Helen Theophanous Presents “Sarah & Clifford Revisited” on the Lunchtime Session

Sarah Vaughan considered her 1954 album with trumpet player Clifford Brown to be her favourite recording. Tribute is paid to this iconic album plus other songs from the Complete Recordings with Clifford Brown with titles including “Embraceable You”, “Lullaby Of Birdland”, “September Song”, “I'm Glad There Is You”, “April In Paris”, “Body and Soul”, “Lover Man”, “Polka Dots and Moonbeams”. Of Greek and Irish heritage, Helen has been singing since an early age and studied music at Goldsmith’s College and the Guildhall as well as with the award-winning American singer Lea DeLaria, star of the Netflix series, “Orange Is The New Black”. Helen often performs at major London venues and is known for her warm, passionate vocals, impressive range and exciting swinging style Helen has been described by Claire Martin OBE as “Classy …. stunning …… with drama and presence ….” Helen will be joined by Geoff castle, piano, (Nucleus, Paz), Steve Taylor, drums, (Steve Taylor Big Band Explosion), Paul Morgan, bass, (BBC Radio Orchestra), Tim Whitehead, sax, (Nucleus, First Musician Artist In Residence Tate Britain) along with special guest Paul Jordanous, trumpet, (Rag & Bone Man). 2.30pm Tickets £13 in advance & £15 on the door
