The NYJO Nonet consists of the very best past and present members of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. The Nonet is a showcase for some of the most talented young jazz musicians working in the UK, all of whom have progressed through the NYJO family with a focus on small-group improvisation, playing compositions and arrangements by current end ex-members of NYJO. The Nonet has established a reputation for consummately skilful performances, inspiring soloing and wonderful “cool school” arrangements. The line-up is big enough to create a powerful ensemble but small enough to allow the interaction and empathy which is the hallmark of small-group jazz performance.
