Helen Theophanous & the Geoff Castle Quartet present “Jazz Legends” on the Lunchtime Session (2.30pm)

azzHelen and her top-flight quartet will be showcasing the music of the great jazz composer, arranger, pianist and bandleader Duke Ellington on the Sunday lunchtime session at The Bull's Head Jazz Room. Duke Ellington is one of the most important jazz figures of all time and Helen and her acclaimed musicians will be featuring some of the Duke's iconic compositions such as “Take The A-Train”, “In A Sentimental Mood”, “Caravan”, “Perdido” and “Mood Indigo”. Helen also worked with Duncan Lamont Snr and will be paying homage to the memory of this much-respected jazz composer and saxophonist with some of his beautiful songs and along the way Jao Gilberto will also be remembered with some Bossa Nova gems. JazzHelen has been delighting audiences for many years, appearing in top London jazz venues and regularly sings ‘Upstairs at Ronnie’s’ as the guest of international tenor saxophonist Renato D'Aiello. Helen’s voice has been described by award winning jazz singer Clare Martin OBE as “Stunning, with drama and presence ….”. Cabaret Scenes commented “Deliciously warm vocals and terrific scatting ….”.
