O’Higgins and Luft play Monk and Trane
Entry Requirements: Under 18s to be accompanied by an appropriate adult
Featuring Dave O’Higgins, tenor saxophone, Rob Luft, guitar, Scott Flanigan, organ & Rod Youngs, drums. Dave has always loved the earlier era of Coltrane recordings, both as leader and sideman and especially Coltrane’s choices of standards. Rob has a penchant for calling Monk tunes - and it’s great to hear them played by a group with no piano, so you can’t imitate Thelonious Monk himself! This group will be playing swinging jazz with a contemporary twist. Dave has had a long association with great UK guitarists having recorded three albums with Martin Taylor, two with Jim Mullen, and four with Mike Outram. Young “firebrand” Rob Luft carries on this tradition on with aplomb. “O’Higgins plays with quite exceptional fluency and his fund of ideas never runs out….” - The Observer. "Rob Luft, the thoughtfully virtuosic head-turner…." - The Guardian 8.30pm Tickets £13 in advance & £15 on the door
