Chiswick based jazz singer is delighted to performing at one her local jazz clubs, the legendary Bull’s Head in Barnes. Jo studied musical theatre at Arts Educational In Chiswick then having been enchanted by Ella Fitzgerald and the songs of the great American Songbook sidestepped into jazz and had lessons with some of her favourite modern jazz singers, Claire Martin, Anita Wardell, Lianne Carole and Anton Browne. She has performed at many of London’s jazz venues including Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, The Pheasantry, the Royal Albert Hall’s Verde Restaurant, the National Portrait Gallery and the National Theatre Foyer. As well as holding residency’s Jo also performs regularly in clubs and singing at private functions throughout the UK. Josephine Arthur’s warm, velvety voice has been likened to ‘bathing in chocolate’. Drawing influences from Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughn, her bluesy performances are peppered with delightful vignettes based on more contemporary artists. For this special show Jo will be singing the swing songs from the American Song Book as well as performing numbers from her very first jazz album, “Forever Ella”.
