London based singer Helen presents some classic jazz standards to celebrate summer with some of the UK's most acclaimed musicians, Geoff Castle, piano, (Nucleus, Paz) Paul Morgan, bass, (BBC Radio Orchestra) Steve Taylor drums (Steve Taylor Big Band Explosion, Frater and Taylor) along with special guest tenor saxophonist Tim Whitehead, (Nucleus, First Musician in Residence Tate Britain). Half Greek and half Irish, Helen has performed in many top London jazz venues and is a regular featured singer at Upstairs at Ronnie Scott's as guest of Renato & Aiello. Expect Ella Fitzgerald favourites as well as numbers made popular by Sarah Vaughan, Dusty Springfield, Dionne Warwick and others, with songs by Ellington, Porter, Gershwin, Bacharach, Jobim, Bernstein and many more. Now in her third year of residency at the Bulls Head, Helen's established popular Sunday lunchtime gigs are known for their friendly relaxed atmosphere not without a touch of humour.
