Featuring Stefanos Tsourelis, guitar and oud, Dave Jones, bass and Eric Ford, drums, the concert presents the exciting world jazz group created in 2016 now currently recording their follow up CD to the acclaimed debut “Native Speaker” which received acclaim from musicians, audiences and the jazz community alike. The music is a fusion of Mediterranean melodies and rhythms with jazz improvisation and dynamic grooves and features the compositions of the leader Stefanos which have developed collaboratively with the members of the trio. Born in Larisa, Greece, Stefanos has been playing music from the age of 10, taking his first lessons on the Greek Lute by Yiorgos Deligiannis, later studying the Oud with Kuriakos Kalaitzides and guitar with Kostas Maginas in Thessaloniki. In 2005 he moved to London where was taught and inspired by great guitarists such as Shaun Baxter, Mike Outram and John Wheatcroft, and was awarded the prestigious title of ‘Best Guitarist of the Year’ in 2008. Stefanos is well known for his versatility and ability to move across styles and genres on both the Guitar and Oud, and his musical style incorporates Blues, Rock, Jazz and Mediterranean sounds. His main influences are: Jim Hendrix, SRV, John McLaughlin, Pat Metheny, Jeff Beck, Wes Montgomery and many more. Bassist Dave Jones' writing has been described “… sophisticated and nuanced … “- London Jazz News’. In recent years his playing has placed him alongside musicians Steve Gadd, Keith Carlock, Ronnie Scott’s Soul and Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Collective Way Out West. Drummer Eric Ford brings many textures to the trio often playing percussion alongside full drum kit.
