Tonight’s concert features the music of New Zealand born pianist and composer Meredith White whose trio draws a wide range of repertoire and styles to the classic jazz piano trio format. Original compositions sit alongside old and new jazz standards drawn from classic soul and pop repertoire, through swing, Latin and funk grooves and textures influenced by the band leader’s classical background. Paul Cavaciuti is regarded as an internationally renowned drummer and educator. A graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, Paul has been a stalwart of the British jazz scene since the early 90s. He has played with a host of the UK’s top jazz musicians, including Jim Mullen, Tina May, Chris Garrick and David Gordon. Dave Jones' bass playing in recent years has included Ronnie Scott’s Soul and Jazz Orchestra, Pete Cater Big Band, Way Out West Jazz Collective and Stefanous Tsourelis Trio and he has played alongside Steve Gadd and Keith Carlock as well as leading his own groups. 8.00pm Tickets £5 students, £11 in advance, £13 on the door.
