Art Davis with the John Cervantes Trio featuring Toni Kofi – “The Songbook Sessions” Sunday Lunchtime
Art Davis
Entry Requirements: Under 18s to be accompanied by an appropriate adult
We are delighted to welcome back Art Davis (aka Peter Coats) and the John Cervantes Trio, after their storming gig at the Bull earlier this year. This time around their special guest is the award-winning saxophonist Tony Kofi. With his swinging, soulful vocals - think Sinatra meets Sam Cooke - Art will take you on a journey through the Great American Songbook (George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Rodgers & Hart, etc) together with songs from his new jazz musical "On Top Of The World" and other surprises along the way. Tony is a British Jazz multi-instrumentalist born of Ghanaian parents, a player of the Alto, Baritone, Soprano, Tenor saxophones and flute, widely recognised as one of the UK’s leading sax players. Having 'cut his teeth' in the “Jazz Warriors” of the early 90’s, Tony has gone on to establish himself as a musician, teacher and composer of some authority. Acclaimed pianist John Cervantes and his swinging trio, bassist Adam King and drummer David Ingamells, will be driving the show as well as performing some of John's own compositions. With a love for 1950s & 1960s jazz, allied to a style and class all of their own, the trio is a regular feature at top jazz venues and festivals around London and across Europe. If you love classic jazz and blues, delivered with joyous, soulful energy, this show is not to be missed!
