Elaine Hallam “Jazz-ish” on the Evening Session

Vocalist Elaine Hallam with pianist Tim Sharp and percussionist Paul Hankin performing a brand-new set developed with Tim Sharp that has a jazz style, feel and ambiance, but at the same time sources songs from across the genres, all with Elaine’s theatrical twist and storytelling added to the mix. Elaine began singing professionally at 19 after being plucked from open auditions by Cameron Mackintosh as a West End performer. After a career in West End musicals she now works as a main stream actress in TV, Theatre and Radio and is a well-known vocal coach. Elaine has sung jazz since the age of 17 and her influences range from the jazz and blues of Billie Holiday and Blossom Dearie through to the theatrical style of artists such as Judy Garland and the pop catalogue of performers such as Karen Carpenter and Ed Sheeran. Tim Sharp is both an experienced pianist and teacher who has played for many of London’s top Salsa outfits including Orquesta Cache, Septeto Familia and Cubinita having studied at La Escuela de Bellas Artes in Havana. Percussionist Paul Hankin is a much sought-after session musician who plays across the genres, appearing on more than 30 albums as well as being a founder member of cult band, The Ozric Tentacles.
