Phil Lee-Thomas Quartet
Entry Requirements: Under 18s to be accompanied by an appropriate adult
Described as a "Welsh powerhouse", jazz cabaret singer Phil Lee-Thomas and his trio of musicians, present 'Tall Stories', an irreverent and humorous look at life, as told through his favourite songs, hand-picked from the Great American Songbook and beyond. Singing is a distinctive part of Welsh national identity and like many Welshmen, Phil started singing very young, through chapel, in male voice choirs and at Eisteddfodau (music festivals), leading to his training as a lieder baritone in Cardiff before crossing over to his favourite repertoire, performing jazz and swing songbook standards, with Swingcopation Big Band, and his trio and quartet. Now London-based, Phil's international career has seen him perform at the Southbank Underbelly Festival, the Charing Cross Theatre, the Pheasantry Chelsea, La Bodeguita de Cuba in Spain and at California Jazz Conservatory, and he has had recent sell-out shows at the Hippodrome Casino, The Other Palace Studio and Crazy Coqs. His theatre credits include appearances as Dr Alec Harvey in Knee High's 'Brief Encounter', Joe Gillis in 'Sunset Boulevard', and in 'The Distance', Wild Duck Theatre's inaugural production which was presented at Barnes' own OSO in 2016. “Super smooth, velvet voice; he’s got it all going on…..” comedienne & broadcaster Amy Lamé. “Performs with great panache, humour and terrific audience response….” Jazz Cabaret Singer Harold Sanditen.
