NYJO Nonet play the Sunday Evening Session
National Youth Jazz Orchestra
Entry Requirements: Under 18s to be accompanied by an appropriate adult
The National Youth Jazz Orchestra Nonet is a showcase for some of the most talented young jazz musicians in the UK. With a focus on small-group improvisation, the Nonet has established a reputation for consummately skilful performances, inspiring soloing and wonderful “cool school” arrangements. Returning to the Barnes Music Festival for the sixth year running, their arrangements this year reflect the Festival theme of Peace & Harmonies in unusual and entertaining ways. The line-up is big enough to create a powerful ensemble but small enough to allow the interaction and empathy which is the hallmark of small-group jazz performance. The band has appeared throughout the UK at clubs, theatres and festivals, including the City of London and London Jazz Festivals, The Barnes Music Festival and the House of Commons.
