Way Out West Presents “An Evening with The Whiteheads and Bacharach”: Featuring Hattie Whitehead, voice and guitar, Tim Whitehead, sax, George Brown Griffiths, piano & Andy Hamill, double bass. Way Out West is a unique collective of jazz musicians whose diverse improvisation, performance, arranging, composition, all come to the forefront in full force within regular gigs, as each collective member presents their work with stars from today’s jazz scene. For this special show acclaimed saxophonist Tim Whitehead will be collaborating with his daughter, the singer Hattie Whitehead, recipient of a Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent Award 2016, in an evening of Tim and Hattie’s music with newly minted arrangements by Tim of the Burt Bacharach Songbook. "Bacharach's work dominated much of the soundtrack to my early life, and his masterly crafting of melody, interpreted by the virtuosity of Dionne Warwick's voice inspired in me a life-long love of song…."says Tim. Observer jazz critic Dave Gelly describes Tim Whitehead’s work thus; “Those of us who have caught him live….have been left blinking in disbelief. It’s not just his mastery of the tenor saxophone, phenomenal though it is, but the absolute conviction of his playing that is so impressive….” Hattie and Tim are joined by master bassist Andy Hamill, (Laura Mvula, Carleen Anderson, Annie Lennox, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, Van Morrison, Mark Murphy) and pianist George Brown Griffiths, a recent graduate of The Royal Academy Of Music and the featured pianist in The Hattie Whitehead Band.
