Way Out West All Stars Tribute To Joe Henderson: Featuring Pete Hurt tenor and soprano saxophones, Henry Lowther, trumpet, Nette Robinson, voice, Kate Williams, piano, Gary Willcox, drums & Dave Jones - bass plus special guests. An evening of jazz inspired by the late great sax genius Joe Henderson reflecting some of his compositions and collaborations along with original music by some of tonight’s musicians. Way Out West is a unique collective of jazz musicians. Diverse improvisation, performance, arranging, composition, all come to the forefront in full force within regular All-Star gigs drawing collective members together in themed concerts and also as each collective member presents their own work and projects with stars from today’s jazz scene. Pete Hurt, described as one of the most distinctive tenor players in the UK has recently released his latest Big Band album and tonight’s concert sees him in the intimate setting of jazz quintet/sextet alongside his longstanding musical partner Henry Lowther on trumpet who himself is a UK jazz legend being at the forefront of the UK scene for over 50 years. The evocative singing of Nette Robinson will bring a softer interpretation to Henderson’s musical inspired by Flora Purim’s vocal collaborations and tonight’s rhythm section of Kate Williams, Gary Willcox and Dave Jones complete the outstanding line up for this wonderful concert.
