The Brant Tilds, Tim Whitehead, Paolo Losi, Dave Jones, Tom Hooper Quintet:

Bulls Head Barnes, London Wed, Jan 17, 2018 8:00 PM

£11 Adv / £13 Door

Entry Requirements: Under 18s to be accompanied by an appropriate adult

The concert will explore the Latin side of the classic jazz quintet tradition with Brant Tilds, trumpet & Tim Whitehead, tenor saxophone playing music from Be-bop and Blue Note through Cuban inspired Jazz to European exponents such as Kenny Wheeler and original music from tonight’s performers. The Paolo Lossi trio featuring Paolo Lossi, piano, Dave Jones, bass & Tom Hooper, drums complete this versatile and swinging group. U.S. Trumpet player and percussionist Brant Tilds graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy, and Indiana University, before moving California, to study with Charlie Haden at CalArts and performing with Ozomatli, Eddie Palmieri and Johnny Martinez. After a number of years in Los Angeles, Brant moved to Copenhagen, Denmark, and became an assistant professor at Copenhagen University in the Music Institute, and taught Jazz and Latin American Music. Here he led his quintet, and his 10-piece group with Humberto Gomez Vera, and performed at festivals around Europe. During this time in Copenhagen, Brant led his quartet at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival before moving to England in 2004. Tim’s Whitehead’s work in recent years includes “Colour Beginnings”, music inspired by the Colour Beginnings work of the painter JMW Turner, the music earned him a shortlisting for The British Composer Of The Year Awards in 2010 and Best Jazz Album 2011.
