The EFG London Jazz Festival 2017 Presents
Art Themen
Entry Requirements: Under 18s to be accompanied by an appropriate adult
Art formed this new band to showcase some of jazz’s lesser known gems from composers such as Thelonius Monk, bringing a fresh musicality to material that you wouldn’t normally hear. Along with Art, the stellar line-up, features pianist Gareth Williams, trumpeter Steve Fishwick, bassist Arnie Somogyi & drummer Winston Clifford. “A collective that might stand comparison with any in the wider world of jazz …..” says Peter Vacher of The Guardian. New Directions reflects a desire for a fresh, though accessible examination of this music and the additional firepower of compositions by Messrs Williams, Somogyi and Fishwick add further variety to the repertoire.
