Karen Lane Salutes Astrud Gilberto
Karen Lane
Entry Requirements: Under 18s to be accompanied by an appropriate adult
Karen Lane presents an exciting musical journey through the swinging Bossa Nova explosion which swept over the world in the mid 60’s. Spearheaded by the notable collaborations of Brazilian musicians like Joao and Astrud Gilberto with American musicians such as Stan Getz, these songs epitomised the carefree abandonment of the era by composers such as Antonio Carlos Jobim and Marcos Valle, amongst others. Delivered with Lane’s definitively intimate and sensual vocal style, with Rob Luft, guitar, Gareth Lockrane, flutes, Andy Hamill, bass and Andrea Trillo on drums, this is a show that is not to be missed.

Karen Lane
Karen Lane is a fresh voice and presence on the UK jazz vocal scene ……. She has what I would describe as a rare combination of musicianship, technique and just plain ‘feel’….." Keith Shadwick - Jazz writer and critic. Karen Lane started singing professionally as a soul singer in some of the seedier dives in Sydney’s Kings Cross district. Coming to the UK in 2000 Lane quickly established herself as a leading vocalist on the London jazz scene, performing and recording with a broad cross-section of our finest musicians.
