Stormy Monday Presents
Lila Ammons (USA) + Ben Waters & Tom Waters
Entry Requirements: Under 18s to be accompanied by an appropriate adult
Stormy Monday Presents Lila Ammons (Chicago USA) with The Tom Waters Band: Lila Ammons a singing sensation from Chicago Illinois! She happens to be the grand-daughter of the legendary boogie pianist Albert Ammons and the niece of sax player Gene Ammons and she has worked with both Jools Holland and Charlie Watts. Not all legacies live up to their heritage, but with her new CD, Nearness of You, Lila Ammons stands tall with the likes of Ravi Coltrane, John Pizzarelli and Marcus Gilmore. The granddaughter of Albert and niece of Gene “Jug” Ammons also proves that one can indeed make a successful leap from classical voice to jazz singer – she can get down with the Blues. Sax player Tom Waters is a regular player with his pianist dad Ben Waters as well as plying with Nine Below Zero, Ronnie Wood and even recorded Ben’s "Boogie for Stu" with the Rolling Stones at the age of nine! Drummer Anmol Mohara and Tom met whilst they were both studying at the Royal Academy of Music and although Mohara is only 16 he has already won best drummer in the country. The line-up is completed with Rodney Teague on bass and Rob Palmer on guitar.
