Tom Millar Quartet
Entry Requirements: Under 18s to be accompanied by an appropriate adult
Featuring Tom Millar, piano, Misha Mullov-Abbado, bass, Dave Storey, drums & Alex Munk, guitar. Pianist and composer Tom Millar was born in Sydney, Australia and grew up in London. After reading Music at King’s College, Cambridge, he studied Jazz Piano and Composition for a Masters at the Royal Academy of Music, London, and with Django Bates in Bern, Switzerland. Formed while studying at the Royal Academy of Music, the quartet features some of the most in-demand young jazz musicians in London, all of whom are also successful bandleaders themselves. Tom’s performing credits also include touring the UK with the Lyric Ensemble (performing the music of the late Michael Garrick); the Ollie Howell Quintet; the Duncan Eagles Quartet; and albums with the Tom Smith Septet and Andrew Linham Big Band. He has played in the USA, Europe and Qatar, including a tour of Switzerland with blues star Philipp Fankhauser and singer Margie Evans from Shreveport, Louisiana. The quartet plays Tom’s original music, inspired by places and people that are important to him. Alex Munk's soaring guitar sound complements Tom's piano playing perfectly, and both are able to stretch out over the rhythm section's emphatic grooves.
