Mario Castronari on double bass, Nicolas Meier on guitar, Eric Ford on drums plus Paolo Lossi on piano. Legendary bass virtuoso Mario Castronari and his band featuring the amazing Nicolas Meier on guitar, powerhouse Eric Ford on drums plus some very special guests. The music will draw on groove based styles and include many popular songs revisioned by these great musicians. Mario is well known as composer and bassist for the fusion band Roadside Picnic, one of the most popular and successful jazz groups of the 1980’s and 90’s which he formed with the saxophonist Dave O’Higgins. He has worked with the creme of European jazz artists such as Albert Mangelsdorff, Iain Ballamy, Mornington Lockett, Tony Marsh and Howard Riley. Nicolas Meier is now regarded as one of the UK’s most original and uniquely talented guitarists. Drawing from a love of Turkish, Eastern & Middle Eastern music, Flamenco, Tango and more, all mixed with jazz. Meier is one of the rising stars in a vibrant British jazz scene as well as working with The Jeff beck Group on two world tours. Eric Ford is the rhythmic foundation of many up and coming contemporary jazz groups such as Partikal, Ross Stanley Organ Trio, Maciek Pysz and Stefanous Tsourelis Trio. Paolo was born in Milan in 1972 where he started playing classical music on the organ at the age of five. At the sixteen he was introduced to Jazz music by his friend Gianni Guido (Jazz Crusaders member 1993 - 1996) and came to London in 1994. Paulo is continually active within the UK music scene, collaborating with David Jean-Baptiste, Quentin Collins, Tony Cofi and Luca Luciano and has performed at Queen Elisabeth Hall, Bath Jazz festival and The National Theatre of London.
