SMC Presents JT4: Jon Taylor Quartet
Entry Requirements: Under 18s to be accompanied by an appropriate adult
JT4 are an instrumental supergroup, who play a subtle blend of barrelhouse blues, Chicago R and B and jazz. The band features Jon T-Bone Taylor on guitar (the Bop Brothers/Charlie Sayles), Tim Richards on keys (Otis Grand/Spirit level), Uruguayan bassist Andy Lafone (Danny Adler/Snowboy) and the UK's leading blues drummer Pete Miles (Joanne Kelly/Radical Sheiks). JT4’s current tour sees the reunion of two musicians who worked together during the nineties under various names (The London Blues Band, Roogalator II and the original Grooveyard), Tim Richards and Jon Taylor. They have accompanied US blues artists Mojo Buford, Deitra Farr and British blues queen Dana Gillespie. Taylor's pedigree includes appearances with such greats as Champion Jack Dupree, Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Dick Morrissey, Art Themen and Don Weller, as well as recording with vocalists Earl Green, Ruby Turner, Connie Lush and Taka Boom for the album Jon T-Bone Taylor's Bop Brothers ... and Sisters. Richards has led many acclaimed bands, including Spirit Level and Great Spirit. He was also a member of Otis Grand and The Dance Kings and appeared on their album Aways Hot. He has backed US bluesmen Larry Garner and Joe Louis Walker.
