Way Out West All Stars presents The Music of the Great Composer Pianists

This fantastic collective features Kate Williams on piano, Gary Wilcox on drums, Dave Jones on bass and are supported by horns and soloists drawn from the Way Out West jazz collective. An evening of jazz by great composers and pianists including Bud Powell, Duke Ellington, Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett and many more. The evening shall be hosted by pianist Kate Williams, one of the founder members of the Way Out West Collective. Williams is a schooled and historically aware jazz pianist. John Watson of Jazz Breakfast has previously stated “The influence of Bill Evans ran like a thread through the performance … “. “Kate Williams has a quality rare among jazz composers: a musical vocabulary that's all her own … ” Dave Kelly - The Observer. Way Out West is a unique collective of jazz musicians representing some of the finest in the UK. Diverse improvisation, performance, arranging, composition, all come to the forefront in full force within their regular gigs, as collective members leading their own projects or as in tonight’s ‘All Stars’ special concert the collective members are heard coming together to develop music within a themed concert. The collective includes saxophonists Tony Woods, Pete Hurt, Chris Biscoe, Tim Whitehead, Mike Outram, Emily Saunders, Nette Robinson, Mick Sexton, Jimmy Hastings and Tony Kinsey.
