In 1957, Verve records released “Ella Fitzgerald Sings The Duke Ellington Songbook”, which won Ella the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Performance. For this show Helen pays tribute to the Duke Ellington Songbook with classic songs including ‘Caravan’, ‘Day Dream’, ‘In A Sentimental Mood’, ‘Perdido’, ‘The A Train’, ‘Do Nothing Til You Hear From Me’, ‘It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing’ and many more, with an exciting mixture of swing and latin rhythms provided by her top flight band including MD and pianist Geoff Castle (Nucleus, Paz, Carmina), Paul Morgan on bass (BBC Radio Orchestra, Don Lusher), Kelvin Christiane on sax (Host of the Twickenham Jazz Club, The Kelvin Christiane Allstars Big Band) and Steve Taylor on drums (Steve Taylor Big Band, Frater and Taylor). Well known for her sultry warm vocals and her wide vocal range, Helen’s welcoming stage presence ensures that every gig is a memorable and enjoyable experience.
