This highly talented singer/songwriter and musician has always had a passion for performing. His roots go back to his time in a Caribbean church in London where he found and nurtured his love for playing the piano and singing choral hymns and Caribbean folk spirituals. DaPaul’s powerful sense of musicality has embraced a host of influences from jazz and gospel to soul, blues and pop, whilst his song writing talents have been honed over the years by listening to the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Nat King Cole, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Curtis Mayfield and Prince. His formative years in the music industry began in the mid 90s as a much sought after session musician and backing vocalist to artists such as Alexandra O’Neal, Des’ree, Gabrielle and Eternal, with appearances at the World Music Awards, Montreux Jazz Festival and on the Jools Holland Show. His debut album, “Soulful Spirit” and the follow up album, “London Town” both received rave reviews, reaching number 10 in the UK Soul Chart and Solar Radio’s Sweet Rhythms Chart Show and featured on Jazz FM as track of the week. The last time Da Paul played the Bull’s Head the show was broadcast live worldwide and this is another great chance to enjoy Da Paul’s special brand of soul with his amazing band including Andre Gabriel on guitar, Roy Stewart on bass and Kieran Guy on drums.
